Version 1 through 4 of Biosystems IQ products use Microsoft Access Database to store all data, including calibration history, sensor performance and templates.  Version 5 and higher uses Postgre SQL Database.  Microsoft Access Database is limited to 2GB of data before performance is significantly reduced.  With the introduction to an SQL database the limit is now 4TB (4 terabytes or 4000 GB).

As of July 31, 2006 Biosystems had completed the transition over to the PostgreSQL database for all IQ Products.  This website was also modified to allow the MS Access versions to remain available for those who do not require the additional storage capability of the SQL version

If you upgrade to the SQL version you must upgrade ALL IQ products on ALL networked computers and install the PostgreSQL database server application   It is possible to use the original and the new SQL system concurrently, however, they will we writing to two different databases.  Please download the IQ Administrator PRO manual for details on the SQL Database as this type of installation requires a server setup (network server or local PC).
